How is an IPL machine different from a laser?
An IPL machine emits a band of wavelengths; a laser emits one. A single-wavelength diode or Nd:YAG is optimised for one job. IPL isn't a weaker laser; it's a multi-indication tool.
Is an IPL machine suitable for darker skin (フィッツパトリック IV ～ VI)?
IPL works across Fitzpatrick I–VI, but darker skin is higher-risk and needs conservative settings — it's a question of parameters, not a blanket yes. On IV–VI, use longer wavelengths, lower fluence, longer pulses and strong contact cooling. For the darkest skin, a long-pulse Nd:YAG is often safer. Final parameters stay with the trained operator.
