1. What is IPL?
IPL, or Intense Pulse Light, is similar to laser treatment but they are not the same. It has become the buzzword in the beauty and skin treatment industry today. It provides aesthetic and therapeutic purposes. While laser treatment only focuses on one wavelength of light, IPL releases light of many different wavelengths. It is then scattered and penetrates deep down to the second layer of the skin. IPL treatment is used to perform several skin treatments such as hair removal, Photorejuvenation or the removal of wrinkles and other signs of aging, and acne treatment.
2.How fast will I see results?
You begin to feel tangible results right after the procedures. Positive results are usually reported in four to six weeks after the last session and continue to improve for several weeks following the procedure.
3. How Often Will I Need Treatment?
The treatments should be spaced from 4 weeks between your first few appointments, gradually increasing to 8 weeks apart. Yearly to bi-yearly top up treatments are recommended.
4. When will I begin to see results after an IPL treatment?
Patients will begin to see results 7-10 days after an IPL laser treatment. Full results can be seen after two weeks. Since the IPL stimulates new collagen, continual results will build up to 6 months after the initial treatment.
5. How long do results from an IPL treatment last?
Improvements from an IPL treatment can be seen for several years after treatment. Results can be prolonged with diligent use of SPF+, ensuring that sun exposure if avoided and with the correct at home skincare maintenance.
6. What areas can I treat with the IPL treatment?
The IPL laser can essentially be used on any part of the body. The most popular areas to treat with the IPL laser are the face, neck, chest, arms and hands.
7. Are IPL Treatments Painful?
IPL treatments are delivered with the sensation of heat from the hand piece, which is operated by your technician. Patients can expect to feel a short, quick zap of energy to the treated area. The sensation is that of a light snap from a rubber band. IPL treatments cause very little discomfort and are usually tolerated very well.
8. Is There Post-Treatment After-Care Instructions Associated With IPL?
The recovery from IPL treatments is very short and quick, as there was minimal damage caused to the skin during the treatment. The following are precautionary recommendations following IPL treatments:
– No sun tanning outside or inside
– No hot baths or showers
– No wet or dry sauna use
– No swimming in chlorinated pools, hot tubs, and spas
– No perfumed lotions or soaps on the treated skin
– Better use post-treatment skin care skin products
