Q: What is the purpose of the cartridge stickers?
A: The stickers seal the water inlet. Water acts as a coupling medium for efficient ultrasound energy transmission.
Q: How can I tell when water needs refilling?
A: Each cartridge features a visible water level indicator. Refill when the level drops below the recommended threshold.
Q: How many handpieces are supplied per order?
A: Each system comes with 7 handpieces as standard. Additional handpieces can be purchased separately.

They are primarily designed for the face and neck. But for larger body areas, after using 6mm or 9mm cartridges, you can use 4.5, 3.0 and 1.5 mm cartridge for consolidation
Q: What is the difference between FL and SD cartridges?
A:
FL cartridges Only HIFU.
SD cartridges = HIFU+RF, designed for a gentler treatment experience. You can use it for more clients with the SD cartridges.
Q: Can I use RF only function with the SD cartridges?
A:
No. This device is HIFU based, so you can’t use RF only.
Q: How do I connect the handpiece and install the cartridge?
A:
Simply insert the cartridge into the handpiece slot until you hear a click. The system will confirm recognition on-screen.
Q: What should I do if the cartridge is not recognized?
A:
Check:
- Sticker is intact and clean
- Cartridge is inserted fully
- Restart the system
- If still unrecognized, contact support.
Q: How can I check the remaining shots of the cartridge?
A:
The touchscreen displays the total remaining shots for each cartridge when installed.
Q: What happens when the cartridge reaches 0 shots?
A:
There won’t be energy when the cartridges reach o shots. A new cartridge must be installed.
Q: Where can I purchase replacement cartridges and consumables?
A:
Replacement cartridges can be purchased directly from Fotromed. Contact your sales manager for support.
Startup & Basic Operation
Q: What should I do if the machine cannot start or has no energy output?
A: Check power connections, ensure the cartridge is properly installed, and restart the system. If the issue persists, contact technical support.
A full list of contraindications and a consent form are provided during pre-treatment.
Q: How do I set the basic parameters (energy, pitch, length)?
Energy = strength of ultrasound pulses
Pitch = distance between each line shot
Length = total length of treatment line
Your training guide includes safe ranges for each area.
We always recommend to start from low energy and do a patch test on the treated area.
Q: Which coupling gel should be applied before treatment?

Use ultrasound gel/cooling gel only. Do not substitute with other gels, as they may block ultrasound transmission.
Q: What do the “Pitch” and “Length” settings control?
A:
Pitch = space between focal points (in mm)
Length = total treatment line length (in mm)
We don’t change the settings of pitch and length.
Q: Can the number of shots be preset?
A:
Yes. You can set a target number of shots for each session, and the system will stop once that number is reached.
Pre- & Post-Treatment Guidelines
Q: What preparations are needed before treatment?
A:
Remove all makeup, creams, or lotions
Cleanse and dry the treatment area
Apply ultrasound gel before treatment
Ensure client has no contraindications
Q: What is the aftercare plan following treatment?
A:
Apply one piece of medical grade mask right after the treatment to reduce redness or swelling. Cooling effect will be better if the mask is put into the fridge before the treatment.
Avoid sun exposure, saunas, or hot baths for 24–48 hours
Use gentle skincare and apply sunscreen daily
Hydrate well to support collagen renewal

Q: Which areas should be avoided?
A: There have different forbidden area for different depths. The basic logic is to avoid nervy and bony area.
Q: Why should treatment avoid bony areas?
A:
Increased pain or discomfort – bone conducts ultrasound differently, so the patient may feel sharp or intense pain.
Higher risk of side effects – energy reflecting off bone can cause swelling, bruising, or even damage to surrounding tissue.
Unnecessary energy waste – since there isn’t much soft tissue between skin and bone in those areas, the energy doesn’t work effectively on collagen stimulation.
Q: What is the correct treatment order for the face (4.5mm → 3.0mm → 1.5mm)?
A: The correct order of HIFU face treatment is 5mm → 3.0mm → 1.5mm.
Q: Why must treatment proceed from deep to superficial layers?
A:

If you treat the superficial layer first, it can cause swelling or minor edema, which changes the skin’s thickness and makes it hard to target deeper layers accurately.
Starting deep ensures that the SMAS and dermis are treated correctly before the upper layers change shape.

The deepest layer (SMAS, ~4.5 mm) provides the structural lift.

Q: What application technique should be used: stamping or sliding?

For first learners, stamping technique is recommended. That way is making sure the energy fully cover the treatment area.
For who have experience and want to save treating time, they could use sliding mode.
Q: How many passes are recommended per area?
A:
For stamping technique, 1 pass is enough. For sliding technique, 2 passes is better.
Q: How can I ensure full coverage?
A:
We recommend you do marking on client’s face before the treatment.
Q: How do I operate with a round cartridge?
A:
With the round cartridge, you can use circling technique.
Q: What is the recommended treatment frequency?
A:
Recommended frequency: once every 3–6 months. Results usually peak after 2–3 months and last 12–18 months.
Q: During HIFU treatment, can serum replace the cooling gel?

No, the gel cannot replace to the cooling gel
